Local producer/rhymer Nomar Slevik is a social hermit, a trait which has been nothing but beneficial for his productivity. Slevik has received nothing but good marks on his most recent duets album, "Paper Bullets." Nomar continues to be on of the most productive and experimental artists of independent hip-hop. Black Dice's music pushes the limits of hardcore and noise rock, producing a sound that's as abrasive distorted as possible. Washington, D.C.-based Orthreim exists somewhere on the overlapping flanges of extreme metal, avant-garde jazz, and progressive rock, specializing in intricately composed guitar-drum instruments of vast, almost alien complexity. Paul J. Bosse (Angry Rodent Records) bangs maniacally on drums, tuned fire extinguishers, & looped percussion, accompanied by Ryan Foss on saxophones. Joining them are Plasmids and Phages, a sax-percussion duo from Portsmouth, NH. They'll all explore the Zeitgeist-art groove collective of avant-rock/art-punk compositions swamped in raw and inventive improvisation, spurred to life by amplified saxophones + live drum beat looping. Tonight he is joined by Angelica Sanchez on keyboards and Tom Rainey on drums. |
