Bell and Buoy Physical Theater  is Portland's newest experimental, contemporary movement company exploring the edges of butoh, physical theater, modern dance, improvisation and performance art. Choreographers Hilary Chapman and Ren Morrill lead the charge to bring more experimental performance to Portland with Bell and Buoy's first outing, Strange Attractors. The show explores the relationship between fear, barriers, ideals and desires with a mixture of mythology, psychology, poetry, lights, sound, movement and ritual. Strange Attractors viscerally plumbs the audience's psyches with movement that questions the role desire plays in our lives and in our hearts. Strange Attractors will also feature collaborations with the spectacular Portland-based aerial dance of Apparatus Dance Theater and Portland's own (but now Brooklyn based) gender-bending, performance-warrior of glamarchy, Goldie Peacock!

Rock N’ Roll and the Immortal Soul is the stage version of a screenplay written by local writer Erin Enberg. Catching the eye of The Sundance Film Institute, the script is a comedy with a music makeover as it follows Drake, a vampire who’s been living in the run-down lighthouse across from Portland Headlight, as he decides to pack up all his Sinatra albums and head to New York City to follow his dream of becoming a sucessful singer and garner a record deal. Join us for a reading performed by local actors with original songs written and performed by local musicians (with some fun covers!).

With Erik Moody, Joe Dominguez, Susan Reilly, Howard Rosenfield, Laura Graham, Deirdre Fulton, Amanda Painter, Melissa Farr and Denis Fontaine. Featuring music of Amanda Gervasi, Dominic Lavoie, Roy Davis, Kurt Baker, Holly Nunan, John Fountain and The Panda Bandits and featuring The Holy Boys Danger Club.

Portland's newest theatre ensemble comes together for love of the classic surrealist play Ubu Roi.  This new adaptation of the 1896 script is directed by Tess Van Horn and performed by a serious cast of ridiculous people.  Based loosely on Shakespeare's Macbeth and written over a hundred years ago by Alfred Jarry, this story follows a husband and wife as they attempt to be the rulers of the land. Jarry satirizes Western philosophies and the propensity of the complacent bourgeoisie to abuse their authority engendered by success. Following in the absurdist traditions of the original show, the ensemble will incorporate puppets, confusion, a fat suit and accompaniment by local musicians.  Showing one night only.
