Tyler Ryan's Cosmic Lag

Artist Talk

Tyler Ryan's Cosmic Lag

Portland-based artist and recent MECA grad, Tyler Ryan will discuss consciousness, the universe, and how COSMIC LAG (ongoing) is related to these concepts. He will describe how The Red Camera and other works including his constructed virtual spaces, installations, and photography are relevant within the project. Exploring phenomenology and the infinite, he will walk the audience through his process and provide a live virtual demonstration of ‘cosmic lag.’ His installation is on view in the window gallery through April 20, 2018.

Tyler Ryan is a photographer and installation artist who received a BFA in photography at Maine College of Art. He is a founding member of Pseudodox Collective, an art and technology group.  Their collaborative work, VRage, debuted at the ICA in Portland, ME and will be traveling to Currents New Media Art Festival in Santa Fe, NM in June 2018. Tyler Ryan’s works have been exhibited in the MECAmorphosis 2017: BFA Thesis Exhibition and four BFA shows at the Maine College of Art. He was recently awarded Most Innovative Artwork in the 2017 BFA Exhibition.
