Mirah with Secret Drum Band and Beloved

The K Records indie-folk luminary returns!

Brooklyn-based Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn creates incorruptible independent pop music. Defined by her graceful songwriting and adventuresome recordings, Pitchfork has praised her “incredible voice—a versatile coo that can flit from low, sultry tones to high, airy falsetto in one breath.”

She has released over a dozen solo and collaborative recordings on K Records, Kill Rock Stars and various US domestic and foreign independent labels. Collaborators include well-known producers Phil Elverum (The Microphones/Mount Eerie), Merrill Garbus (tUnE-yArDs), Tucker Martine, Guy Sigsworth and Calvin Johnson, songwriters and composers such as Thao Nguyen, Lori Goldston, Susie Ibarra, Jherek Bischoff, Tara Jane O’Neil, and Khaela Maricich (The Blow) and visual and media artists such as Anna Oxygen of Cloud Eye Control, Britta Johnson, and Ginger Brooks Takahashi.

Her latest release, Changing Light, was self-released on her own imprint, Absolute Magnitude Recordings.

Secret Drum Band is a percussion ensemble based in Portland, Oregon, featuring members of Explode Into Colors, !!! (chk chk chk), Typhoon, and Unwound. Lisa Schonberg started the band in 2006 as a experimental quartet for Ladyfest Olympia. It's current incarnation features five percussionists and two ambient musicians. Many of SDB's works were composed in response to soundscape and form in locations chosen to draw attention to issues concerning endangered species, ecosystem function, and habitat loss.

Beloved is the nom-de-plume of the Portland-based Nyanen Deng, who threads her mellifluous vocals through layers of atmospheric synths and otherworldly sounds. For this performance, she'll be in a special duo formation with Jaw Gems keyboardist and sonic-tinkerer Kafari
